Irvine Sensors Corp. has named Fujitsu Microelectronics executive James D. Evert as president and chief executive.

Irvine Sensors’ chairman, James Alexiou, had taken on the responsibilities of president and CEO of the computer electronics company after Kenneth T. Lian resigned in October.

Evert has been vice president for engineering, marketing, operations and sales of a new Fujitsu division that he helped organize. Before that, he was director of manufacturing for SuperComputer Systems Inc. and spent 30 years in various management positions with IBM.
