2 Air Force Jets Just Miss Full 727
Two unarmed Air Force jets flew as close as 1,000 feet to a Boeing 727 full of passengers off the New Jersey coast, forcing it to make evasive maneuvers and tossing passengers and crew to the floor. The Air Force has launched an investigation, The incident took place in airspace controlled by the military. An FAA spokesman said a Nation’s Air flight from Puerto Rico to New York City was cleared through the area and was flying about 70 miles east of Atlantic City when it received a warning from its collision-avoidance system.
