Two people with a major stake in Los Angeles politics will address the Studio City Residents Assn. at its monthly meeting tonight.

Tom Hayden, a Democratic mayoral candidate, and Elizabeth Lambe, local government affairs director for California Common Cause, are scheduled to speak.

Hayden, who recently launched a challenge to Mayor Richard Riordan, will discuss issues relating to Valley governance and the city charter debate.

Lambe has been involved in Common Cause’s effort to nominate candidates for the panel that will weigh changes to the city charter. The organization has said it is seeking candidates who “represent the community, have a history of working neighborhood issues and believe in neighborhood-based empowerment and government.”

At Tuesday’s meeting, Lambe will explain Common Cause’s approach to the candidate selection process and how the group plans to get involved in the April elections.

The meeting will begin at 7:30 p.m. at Carpenter Avenue Elementary School Auditorium, 3909 Carpenter Ave.
