Chamber Celebrates Site’s Groundbreaking

Members of the Encino Chamber of Commerce celebrated the long-awaited renovation and expansion of the chamber offices Thursday with a ceremonial groundbreaking at the organization’s Balboa Boulevard location.

Final approval from the city to begin construction is expected within a week and the actual groundbreaking will occur shortly thereafter, said chamber Chief Executive Officer Pam Campeau.

It has been more than five years since plans to renovate the offices for the 650-member chamber were first made, Campeau said.

The $200,000 renovation will add 1,200 square feet of office space to the chamber’s building at 4933 Balboa Blvd. Other improvements will include a new boardroom, updated computers and new technical equipment.

Construction is expected to be completed in four months.

A campaign to help pay for the improvements will begin Feb. 21 with an installation dinner for incoming chamber president David DeFore at the Sportsmen’s Lodge in Studio City.

The dinner is open to the public. Tickets are $70.
