A Thousand Oaks man suspected of trying to purchase goods using a stolen credit card was being held in lieu of $5,000 bail Thursday at the Ventura County Jail, authorities said.

At 10:30 a.m. Thursday, David Walter Caramanis, 25, was waiting for United Parcel Service to deliver two packages at a business in the 700 block of Lakefield Road in Thousand Oaks, Ventura County Sheriff’s Sgt. Dave Paige said.

Authorities were tipped off by a UPS employee that merchandise in the packages was purchased with a stolen credit card, Paige said. Detectives waited until Caramanis made contact with the driver, then arrested him without incident, according to Paige.
