Duck update--A 5-2 victory over Toronto on Wednesday helped after the Ducks had lost three of four on the road, but they have fallen out of a tie for the final playoff spot while waiting to play again. There won’t be much waiting over the next week or so, because they play five games in nine days. They will be without several regulars after being hit by a rash of injuries, particularly on defense.

Canuck update--Five losses in the last six games prompted an hour-long team meeting this week as the Canucks teetered toward falling out of playoff position. They had a terrific January, going 8-4-1, but are 1-5 in February and four of the losses were to teams with losing records. Center Trevor Linden is back after sitting out 24 games because of a knee injury, but he hasn’t scored a goal in seven games since returning.
