Oakley Names Baden to New Post; Ott Now a Director at Claim Jumper

* Colin Baden has been named to the newly created position of vice president of design for Oakley Inc., an Irvine eyewear company. He joined Oakley last year as director of design. Before that, Baden was a partner at Lewis Architects in Seattle for six years, and he began advising Oakley on company image issues in 1993.

* Robert Ott has been appointed director of operations for Claim Jumper Restaurants in Irvine. He had been regional manager since 1993, overseeing operations at several locations.

* Randy Hulce has been appointed president of Sunstone Hotel Properties Inc., the operating company for Sunstone Hotel Investors Inc. in San Clemente. Hulce was most recently divisional vice president of operations for La Quinta Inns Inc. He was also senior asset manager for Lehman Brothers/Lennar Partners and Westinghouse Credit Corp.

* Syl Egan has joined Irvine-based Catellus Residential Group as senior vice president of construction for the company’s Northern California operations. He was previously senior vice president of operations for Greystone Homes in Orange County and before that was vice president of construction for Mission Viejo Co.

* Carl A. Strunk has been named executive vice president and chief financial officer of CKE Restaurants Inc. in Anaheim. Andrew F. Puzder was appointed executive vice president and general counsel. Strunk is also executive vice president and chief financial officer for Fidelity National Financial Inc., and Puzder is also executive vice president and general counsel for Fidelity National. In addition, Kathryn S. Polson was named senior vice president and chief financial officer of CKE’s wholly owned units.

* Roger Klein is the new director of storage marketing for CMD Technology in Irvine. He was formerly director of program and product marketing for Unisys Storage Systems division.

* Missy Stern has been named senior vice president in the Orange County regional office of Imperial Bank. She has been responsible for commercial business development of middle market businesses as well as technology and health care companies. Before joining the bank in 1995, Stern was account executive at Martin Marietta and vice president of commercial business development at City National Bank.

* Jann Reichenberg will head up UCI Extension’s newly restructured marketing department as director of strategic marketing services. She had been acting director. Reichenberg joined UCI Extension, which provides more than 1,800 continuing education courses, in 1993 as an account executive. In addition, John McIntyre has been appointed to the newly created position of director of development. He will organize the first coordinated efforts in fund-raising and public support of UCI Extension’s programs. McIntyre was previously director of marketing and development at Saddleback College in Mission Viejo.

* Fran Waddle has joined Sony Trans Com, an Irvine airline entertainment systems and content provider, as director of entertainment and information services. Waddle was formerly managing director for in-flight products at American Airlines.

* Edward R. Arquilla and Axel J. Kutscher were elected to the board of directors of AMDL Inc., a Tustin developer of diagnostic tests. Arquilla is professor emeritus and former chairman of the department of pathology at UCI. Kutscher is vice president of Euro-American of Mulheim, Germany. He also is chairman of GlukoMeditech AG, Mainz, Germany, and director of SanguiBioTech Inc. based in Santa Ana.

* Daniel Ast has been named vice president of First American Trust Co., and senior portfolio manager of First American Capital Management Inc. He was previously vice president and senior portfolio manager for First Interstate Capital Management. Ast has also held positions as a senior investment analyst with the Automobile Club of Southern California, a securities analyst with RNC Capital Management Co. and a research consultant with Cantor, Fitzgerald & Co.

* G. Lynn Powell has joined the board of directors of Premier Laser Systems Inc., an Irvine manufacturer of medical lasers, fiber optic delivery systems and associated products. Powell fills a vacancy created by the resignation last November of Irving M. Frankman. Powell is a professor in the University of Utah School of Medicine Department of Pathology and assistant dean for dental education.

* Kevin Coyne has been appointed executive vice president of Bates USA West in Irvine. He had been senior vice president, media director at the advertising agency.

* Philip J. Garcia has been named director of financial advisory services for Coopers & Lybrand L.L.P. He will serve both the Los Angeles and Newport Beach offices. Garcia was formerly president of Enterprise Valuation Associates Inc.

* Christopher Dobens has been appointed vice president and director of Creamer Dickson Basford California. He opened the New York City-based public relations agency’s Irvine office a year ago. Dobens joined the agency in 1991 as an account executive.

* Pamela Wyderka has been named senior benefit consultant at the Costa Mesa branch of Johnson & Higgins, an insurance broker. She is responsible for employee benefit programs and new business development. Before joining the company, Wyderka was vice president, client services for the Precept Group.

* Stephen Couig has joined Capital Pacific Holdings Inc., a Newport Beach home-building company, as senior vice president in charge of capital markets and new business development. He will oversee the company’s continuing expansion plans. Couig was most recently an executive vice president in charge of new business developments and acquisitions with Scottsdale-based Troon Golf. Before that, he was an associate at Morgan Stanley’s Equity Capital Markets group, focusing primarily on business development and syndicate management.
