Gish Biomedical Inc.: The Irvine designer and manufacturer of surgical products said it lost $8,200 for the second fiscal quarter, contrasted with net income of $97,800, or 3 cents a share, for the same period a year earlier. Sales for the quarter ended Dec. 31 declined 9% to $5.3 million from $5.8 million.

The company said second-quarter results reflected a decline in sales of an ambulatory infusion pump, which was acquired as part of Creative Medical Development Inc. in 1995, and increasing price competition in the cardiovascular surgery market.

First-half net income rose to $53,300, or 2 cents a share, from $13,700 for the same period a year ago. Results for the 1995 period included a charge of $702,000 from the termination of a distributor contract. Sales were down 4% to $10.7 million from $11.1 million.
