Mayor Will Address State of the City

From atop the Holiday Inn, looking out over Ventura and the sea, Mayor Jack Tingstrom will deliver his annual State of the City address to the Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday.

The speech will be Tingstrom’s second, and will take place at noon at the Holiday Inn’s Top of the Harbor, 450 E. Harbor Blvd.

“I welcome this opportunity to discuss last year’s accomplishments and our city’s goals for the future with Ventura’s business community,” Tingstrom said.

The mayor said his address will not be as long as President Clinton’s State of the Union address earlier this month. He will limit himself to 30 minutes or less, he said.

Tingstrom said he will highlight the administration’s track record in forging partnerships with other city agencies and neighborhood groups to solve problems that have plagued Ventura for years.

Some themes will be libraries and schools, making Ventura more business-friendly, operating government as a better business, and joining hands with residents to solve community problems.

Those interested in attending the event should contact the Ventura Chamber of Commerce at 648-2875.
