No More TB Cases Found at High School
No Fountain Valley High School students have been diagnosed with active cases of tuberculosis, said Dr. Penny Weismuller, the Orange County Health Care Agency’s disease manager.
Of the 176 students tested, 27 produced positive tuberculosis skin tests, but that doesn’t mean they have active cases of the disease. Chest X-rays conducted later revealed that two students showed abnormalities, and they were tested further. So far, those tests have proved negative.
“It’s just what I would have expected at a high school,” Weismuller said of the results.
In late January, a student was diagnosed with tuberculosis and left campus. The agency ordered mandatory testing for the students and teachers who shared classes with her.
