Flowing and Frugal
A factory store specializing in women’s apparel has just opened in Northridge. The prices are half of retail for a line usually found only in upscale boutiques.
I can’t mention the name of the manufacturer but the name of this outlet/showroom is Jeri’s Place North and is located directly across the street from the factory.
The designs are almost all loose, flowing and romantic in styles that range from country casual to evening elegance. We’re talking dresses here for the most part, but there are some separates, pants and shorts as well. The fabrics are all imported rayons that will save on today’s ridiculously high dry-cleaning tabs because they can be washed and air dried.
The outstanding feature of these designs is the amount of fabric used, as much as seven yards in some styles, and cut to fall close to the body but still allow considerable flexibility. This makes them work for almost any figure--even pregnant figures. It also allows one to select for someone else with an almost sure chance that the dress will fit the recipient.
Most of the inventory is priced from $30 to $100, for items that would retail for $60 to $225. There are no price tags on the merchandise because this is the wholesale showroom for this manufacturer’s product.

Weekend Super Sale
A little bargain spot in Saugus that specializes in ski wear is going out of business and cutting its already discounted prices by half. A man’s ProGear down jacket that retails for $205 was originally priced at $69.99 and is now $35. Women’s Sportscaster jackets that sold elsewhere for $140 and were discounted here to $64.99 are now $32.50.
