King update--The Kings were outshot, 37-28, in their 6-1 loss at Phoenix on Tuesday that extended their winless streak to seven games (0-5-2). The last time the Kings had 46 points or fewer after 60 games was the 1985-86 season when they were 20-34-6. For most of the season, goaltender Byron Dafoe has played well, but when the Kings have an off game, he struggles as well. In four of his 11 losses, he has given up six goals and in two other losses he gave up five. Forward Matt Johnson scored his first goal of the season against the Coyotes and the second of his career.

Duck update--They beat Edmonton on Monday, 5-1, in the first of four games in seven days against Western Conference opponents. Still, they’re in 10th place with only 24 games left. “They’re all important,” Coach Ron Wilson said. “I don’t care if it’s the Kings or the Colorado Avalanche. They’re two points. There aren’t any asterisks in the standings. We can’t have a letdown.” Paul Kariya has a three-game goal streak and has scored 65 points in only 45 games. Teemu Selanne has a goal in five of the last six games and 75 points overall, and Steve Rucchin has a six-game point streak and is one point from matching his career-high of 44 points.
