Kaiya Ann Myers, a 13-year resident of Camarillo, died Tuesday from injuries sustained in a car accident. She was 25.

Myers was born in Northridge, but moved to Van Nuys shortly thereafter. In 1984, she moved to Ventura County, where she lived until her death.

“She was one of the most responsible people you’d ever meet,” said Myers’ longtime companion, Scott Lewis. “A lot of people looked up to her for being able to raise a son on her own and go to school and work.”

For the past four years, Myers worked as a documentation manager at Spectra F/X, a Moorpark firm that provides special effects and entertainment for amusement parks around the country.

Lewis said Myers’ son William, 7, was the focus of her life.

“She didn’t love anything more than him,” he said. “He was always first, and her whole life was based on him.”

Lewis said Myers, who also enjoyed gardening, never missed one of her son’s baseball or soccer games and participated as team mother.

Myers, who was on her way to work, was killed about 10 a.m. Tuesday after she lost control of her car on California 118 near La Cumbre Road in Somis and skidded into oncoming traffic.

In addition to her son and Lewis, Myers is survived by mother Rebecca Hardisty of Marquette, Mich.; father and stepmother Ernie and Donna Myers of San Clemente; grandmothers Connie Buchner of Camarillo and Ruth Myers of Lewisville, Texas; brother Sean Hardisty of Marquette; step-siblings Duane Havourd of Aliso Viejo and Dina Camiolo of Moreno Valley, and aunt Janet Myers of Lewisville.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. today at Conejo Mountain Memorial Park in Camarillo, with Conejo Mountain Memorial Park and Funeral Home handling the arrangements.
