the Cutting Edge
Finally, a lawn mower that goes the whole nine yards in style.
The Yard Cruiser, Snapper’s newest machine, is not your ordinary sit-down mower.
It was designed to be operator friendly. Its controls are easy to reach. And the seating and arm rests are comfortable, there’s an electric start, high visibility and a beverage holder--everything you need when you want cruiser control.
The Yard Cruiser--with 14- or 15-horsepower engines--features a joystick for one-handed steering and zero-turn maneuvering, which cuts mowing time and minimizes secondary trimming. Because it can stand on end, cleaning the mower is a cinch, and storage isn’t a problem if you’re tight on garage space.
Three models are available (about $3,800-$5,000), with the top-of-the-line cruiser coming with a 42-inch twin blade deck, adjustable adjustable wheel-position gauge and a high-back seat.
Attachments and accessories include a mulching system, thatcher, aerator, lawn sweeper, fertilizer spreader and lawn roller.

Online Registry
From toasters to toasting goblets, such as these by Royal Doulton (Ascot, left, $38-$44 a pair; Wellesley $57-$65), the Internet can help you find nearly anything for the bride and groom.
JCPenney, the first department store to take its gift registry online, makes it easy to choose a present without having to leave your home.
“Just like in the store, you can access a bride’s gift list, see which gifts have already been purchased, then choose the item you want,” says Suzanne Gallagher, gift registry manager for JCPenney. “Our online registry also lets couples monitor their wish list.”
After choosing a gift, the online user calls (800) 527-4438 with the lot number and retail price for purchase, wrapping and mailing to the bride.

On the Spot
Wet messes come clean with the SpillVac carpet cleaning machine.
The SpillVac, which is battery-operated, flushes out most spills and spots in about two minutes.
To use it, add clean water to the machine. Next, flush and vacuum the spill, using an iron-like motion. Then pour the water down the drain.
Not only will the SpillVac (about $60) get rid of everyday messes such as milk, wine, juice and coffee, but it also picks up pet urine and accompanying odors when used with a pet deodorizer.
