The city’s school district has received a $30,000 grant to better prepare students for transition to the workplace, officials announced.

The grant, from the Orange County Coalition Vision 2020, will pay for what officials described as “school-to-career activities,” including field trips to local businesses, reviewing curriculum for applicability to the workplace, job shadowing, mentorships, career counseling and other programs.

A task force of about 60 volunteers from local companies, churches, schools and the city government will participate in the program and help develop relationships with local industry.
