A 62-year-old Idaho man died at Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center on Saturday morning of injuries he suffered the day before when he was pinned between two pickup trucks, Orange County sheriff’s deputies said.

The man, identified by the Orange County coroner’s office as Raymond Mitchell, 62, of Meridian, Idaho, was struck about 6:50 a.m. Friday after stopping his pickup truck along Vista Viejo near Anadale Drive in Laguna Hills, said Sheriff’s Lt. William Francis.

“He was standing behind his truck when a young man, 17, in his own pickup truck ran into the back of the victim’s truck, sandwiching him,” Francis said.

The driver told deputies his windshield was fogged and he didn’t see the other man or vehicle, Francis said. The driver wasn’t charged. Francis said the incident remained under investigation.

It was not clear, he said, why Mitchell had stopped in the first place.
