OCTA Open House Scheduled Tonight
Residents curious or concerned about what freeways, bus systems and new transportation methods will look like by 2015 are invited to the Orange County Transportation Authority’s open house in Laguna Hills tonight.
In 1990, county voters approved Measure M, which raises more than $3 billion over 20 years for transportation improvements. Since then, county transportation officials have been studying how to best use the money to handle the additional 580,000 people projected to be living or working in the county by 2015.
Seven transportation alternatives will be presented to the public for consideration, including building a new rail system, improving bus services and expanding freeways. Tonight’s open house is the second of five the transportation agency plans to hold throughout the county. Residents are invited to meet with transportation officials at Laguna Hills City Hall, 25201 Paseo de Alicia, from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. The next public forum will be in Irvine on Saturday.
