Rosa Martinez, a lifelong resident of Ventura who worked for 15 years as a kindergarten aide in an elementary school, died Thursday in a traffic accident. She was 75.

“Chita” was born Jan. 18, 1922, in Ventura. She retired from the Ventura Unified School District as a kindergarten aide at E.P. Foster Elementary School. Family members said Martinez was involved in the Ventura Women’s Home League, the Salvation Army and the House of Worship in Ventura.

Martinez is survived by sons Dennis Artega and Mario Martinez; two grandchildren; brothers Ralph Negrete, Jesse Custodio and Jimmy Custodio; sister Bertha Juarez; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Monday from 2 to 8 p.m. at Ted Mayr Funeral Home, Ventura.

Graveside services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park, Ventura, with Pastor Earl Meyer of the House of Worship officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, 155 S. Oak St., Ventura 93001.

Arrangements are under the direction of Ted Mayr Funeral Home, Ventura.
