Clipper update--They lost for the first time in five games, 109-107, in overtime at Denver on a disputed last-second tip-in by Antonio McDyess on Sunday. The Clippers have won seven consecutive home games, one shy of the franchise record. Forward Loy Vaught, who had 25 points against the Nuggets, has averaged 21.3 points in his last four games. Vaught had 20 points and 11 rebounds in a 95-91 win at Houston on Jan. 4. It was the Clippers’ first victory at Houston in 20 games dating back to Nov. 6, 1986.

Rocket update--Forward Charles Barkley is expected to be sidelined 10 days to two weeks because of a hip injury. Barkley suffered a lacerated left hip in a collision with center Shawn Bradley in the first quarter of last Saturday’s 89-80 victory over the Dallas Mavericks. Houston is 6-10 without Barkley. The Rockets are already without guards Clyde Drexler and Brent Price. Drexler is expected to be out until late this month because of a hamstring injury, and Price (knee) is out for the season.
