Albert MacDonald Morse; Anaheim Youth Programs Organizer

Albert “Big Al” MacDonald Morse, 71, an Anaheim community leader who worked with area youth for four decades. During World War II, Morse was an Army staff sergeant in the South Pacific, earning two Purple Hearts and other decorations. In the 1950s he helped create the Anaheim Little League and volunteered to manage teams for several years. The father of three sons and two daughters, Morse also served as a leader and mentor to boys in YMCA Indian Guides, the Cub Scouts and the Boy Scouts of America. He was so active in the parent-teacher organizations at his children’s schools that three of the groups gave him honorary lifetime member awards the same year. As a booster club member promoting high school athletics, Morse created a prototype raffle that was copied by several schools and earned him the nickname “Mr. 50-50.” Morse was also a 32nd-degree Mason and active in the Shriners and the Scottish Rite. On Feb. 22 in Anaheim.
