From Times Staff and Wire Reports

A woman, accused of faking pregnancy and killing an acquaintance to claim the woman’s 6-week-old infant as her own, was convicted of first-degree murder. A jury also found Kimmi Hardy, 36, of Keokuk guilty of second-degree kidnapping and child stealing. She was sentenced to life without parole. Authorities said Hardy fooled her husband, Robert, with a faked pregnancy and, on Aug. 28, lured Theresa Lynn Lund, 34, to her home and killed her with two gunshots to the head, then passed off Lund’s 6-week-old son as her own.
