Share

The teaching zoo at Moorpark College will open its doors, offices and pens for tours this weekend as part of its annual spring fund-raiser.

Students of the school’s Exotic Animal Training and Management Program will lead tours and present some of the zoo’s more unusual creatures as part of the program’s seventh annual Spring Spectacular.

The tours will give visitors a glimpse of the students’ daily routine of feeding and caring for the zoo’s 150 animals, which include a tiger and sea lion.

The Spring Spectacular will run from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. today, Sunday and March 15 and 16. General admission to the zoo is $8 for adults and $4 for children. “VIP” tickets, which include the tour, cost $11 for adults and $8 for children. The proceeds will be used for the feeding and care of the zoo animals, as well as zoo improvement projects.
