Regarding “Character Building, TV-Style,” by Chuck Crisafulli (March 2):

While reading your article, I realized that all of the pictured actors-characters on the first page had one thing in common: Kristen Johnston of “3rd Rock From the Sun,” Dave Foley of “NewsRadio” and Michael Richards of “Seinfeld” were all originally cast by Marc Hirschfeld of Liberman/Hirschfeld Casting.

The casting director makes an indelible mark on the building of the ensembles by creatively piecing together the right actors for these wonderfully written roles. Unfortunately, the casting director is often overlooked when praise goes out.

Marc Hirschfeld has helped to create some of the most popular TV casts and deserves a mention.
