Eliminating SWAT Teams Is a Bad Idea
* This is in response to Norman Bauer’s letter of March 2. He would like to eliminate all SWAT teams and have a group of volunteers try to reason with the criminals of today. I have two words for him: stupid idea.
I find it very interesting that the people who don’t have the guts to put that uniform on are the ones that sit and tell us how to do our job. Until you have walked a block in our shoes, keep quiet.
I would like to know how Mr. Bauer would have handled the situation in North Hollywood? Would he have tried to talk them out of shooting everyone and everything? A lot of people could have lost their lives that day but thankfully only the bad guys lost.
To all members of law enforcement, keep up the good work. There are a lot of people who do appreciate what you do!
