Militia, Food Convoy in Deadly Clash
From Times Wire Reports
Up to six people were killed in a clash in the southwestern city of Baidoa between militiamen and gunmen escorting a food convoy, a survivor said. One of the wounded, evacuated to a hospital in the capital, said fighting broke out between the convoy’s escorts and militiamen loyal to faction leader Hussein Mohammed Aidid in Baidoa. He said shooting started after the convoy--destined for an International Committee of the Red Cross mission--was refused passage through Baidoa by the local commander.
