Orlando Woos With Discounts

Travel industry leaders in Orlando, Fla., neighbor of Disney World, Epcot and other attractions, are offering new discounts to attract more senior travelers to the area. Discounts are available at amusement parks, entertainment centers, resorts and hotels.

Participants in the senior discount program include:

* Broadway Inn: 198 rooms, swimming pool, 15 to 20 minutes from all major attractions. The inn offers a 10% discount to guests over 50, plus a 10% discount on a round of golf; telephone (800) 816-1530.

* Delta-Orlando Resort at Universal Studios: 800 rooms, three restaurants, three outdoor pools, saunas, tennis, hot tubs, miniature golf, free shuttle to Universal Studios, Sea World, Wet ‘n’ Wild and other attractions. The resort offers a 50% discount for members of American Assn. of Retired Persons or guests over 50; tel. (800) 634-4763.

* Quality Inn Plaza: 1,020 rooms, three pools, breakfast and dinner buffets, near Disney World. Guests may request a Senior Saver Rate, which is a 30% discount off regular rates for AARP members or those over 55 by calling Choice Hotels National Reservation system; tel. (800) 221-2222. If the Senior Saver Rate is not available, a 10% discount will apply regardless of the origin of booking.

* Sheraton Inn Lakeside: 651 rooms, nightly entertainment, free paddle boats on a private lake, miniature golf. Guests over 55 or AARP members receive a 20% discount; tel. (800) 848-0801.

Peabody Orlando: 891 rooms, three restaurants. Rates are usually $230 to $290, but are reduced to $89 per night for seniors based on availability; tel. (800) 423-8257.
