Women’s Power: “The First Wives Club” trio of Goldie Hawn, Diane Keaton and Bette Midler are the honorees of this year’s Women in Film Crystal Awards honoring “outstanding women who, through their endurance and [the] excellence of their work, have helped enhance the role of women within the entertainment industry.” The awards will be presented June 13 at the Century Plaza Hotel. Past recipients include Jodie Foster, Anjelica Huston, Barbra Streisand and Elizabeth Taylor.

CBS Closing In On Gumbel: CBS is close to signing Bryant Gumbel to a multimillion-dollar contract that includes stock options, according to sources. The former “Today” show anchor--whom NBC has kept on the payroll in the hopes he would stay with the network--is expected to anchor a prime-time newsmagazine and do other projects for CBS. Gumbel has also been wooed by ABC.

Pioneers: Four late stars--comedian Eddie Cantor, actor William Conrad and singers Bing Crosby and Kate Smith--are the nominees for the Network/Syndicated Pioneer Award for this year’s Radio Hall of Fame, to be bestowed Oct. 19 in Chicago. Other 1997 Radio Hall of Fame nominees include legendary KMPC-AM (710) morning man Dick Whittinghill, the late New York rock ‘n’ roll disc jockey Murray “The K” Kaufman, syndicated “Countdown” host Walt “Baby” Love, Westwood One talk-show host Bruce Williams and KIIS-FM (102.7) morning host Rick Dees.

Cavett Sued: Producer James Moskovitz has filed a $35-million breach of contract lawsuit against veteran talk-show host Dick Cavett, claiming that Cavett abandoned his daily, nationally syndicated radio program after just two weeks on the air. Included in the suit is a fraud claim that Cavett concealed that he was in poor mental health. Cavett’s attorney confirmed that Cavett left the show in January because of a manic-depressive episode, but said his client is recovering and will soon be ready to return.

ABC will air Cecil B. DeMille’s “The Ten Commandments,” starring Charlton Heston, with electronically restored color and sound, on March 30 (Easter Sunday) and March 31. Though divided between the two nights (with the break occurring where the intermission fell in the 1956 theatrical release), the film will air unedited. . . . Sunday’s Three Tenors concert at the Houston Astrodome has been postponed indefinitely to allow for an overhaul of the show’s sound system. The concert had been billed as the finale of the tenors’ world tour.
