Woodworking Bus Rolls to Raise Funds
A Santa Monica arts organization is showcasing a mobile woodworking bus today in an effort to raise money for a traveling arts program that would benefit Los Angeles County children.
Side Streets, a nonprofit arts and educational group, will give children classes in woodworking on a bus, renovated by a San Diego educator, with eight workstations. Classes will be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 1629 18th St., No. 2, Santa Monica. They will be free, but donations will be accepted.
The group, which has received a grant of about $3,000 from the city’s cultural affairs department, needs to raise another $5,000 to buy its own bus.
