1 Killed, 19 Injured as Car, Bus Collide
A car that swerved to avoid a chair on the highway crossed the median and collided with a bus taking students to a spring break vacation. One person was killed and 19 were injured.
The bus heading from Oshkosh, Wis., to South Padre Island on Saturday was carrying 51 people--30 students from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, 19 others from Oshkosh and two drivers.
The driver of the car, Ralph Marcelli, 65, was in serious condition at a Waco hospital. His wife, Mary-Ellen Marcelli, 49, died. None of the other injuries was considered life-threatening.
Authorities said the chair on Interstate 35 had fallen off a truck.
