Men Indicted in Illegal Weapons Sales

Two Crescenta Valley men who allegedly tried to sell weapons to undercover federal agents and police officers were indicted Tuesday on charges of illegally selling guns and banned weapons such as machine guns.

Officials say they seized more than 400 guns from the home of one of the defendants in January. Most of the weapons turned out to be legal, U.S. attorney’s office spokesman Thom Mrozek said.

But Arthur Kabadaian, 40, of La Crescenta and Larry Lenenberg, 46, of Tujunga did not have a license to sell them, according to a 12-count indictment.

In October, the two men sold four 9-millimeter semiautomatic pistols to an undercover federal agent for $3,500, according to the indictment. They sold another 9-millimeter with machine gun conversion parts for the same amount Nov. 1, the indictment says.

In January, they allegedly agreed to sell six revolvers, an Uzi and a Japanese machine gun for $49,300 to two undercover Los Angeles Police Department detectives.

Both men are out of jail on bond, pending their March 24 arraignment.
