From Times Staff and Wire Reports

The AK-47s went off too quickly for bank employees to trip alarms. A guard lay dying before the two bandits, spraying bullets around the crowded lobby, even demanded money. Two men were charged in the guard’s death and in Monday’s holdup at the Lindell Bank & Trust in St. Louis. The robbers escaped in a van, which caught fire after crashing at a zoo during a police chase. One suspect, Norris Holder, 21, was captured at the crash site. The second suspect, Billie Allen, 19, was arrested at a house in south St. Louis.
