Easter Workshops, Spring Camp Offered

The city is offering several activities for youngsters during the Easter and spring break holidays. Three separate Easter workshops will be held for children of different age groups from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday.

The Peter Rabbit Workshop for tots ages 3-4 will feature egg-dyeing, crafts and games. Participants should bring a half-dozen hard-boiled eggs and an egg carton.

Kids ages 5 to 7 are invited to participate in the Eggstraordinary Fun Factory. They also should bring a half-dozen hard-boiled eggs for decorating.

Cookie-decorating and games will be among the activities featured at the Hippity Hoppity Happening Workshop for kids ages 8-12. Participants should bring a dozen plain sugar cookies for decorating.

All three workshops cost $6 per child and will be at the Los Alamitos Community Center, 10911 Oak St. Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable play clothing.

On March 29, children ages 2-6 are invited to participate in the city’s Easter egg hunt at Little Cottonwood Park, 4000 Farquhar Ave. The event will begin at 10 a.m., and the Easter Bunny will make a special appearance.

Parents who need child care during spring break or just want their kids to have some fun can sign up for the city’s Spring Camp.

The camp, which is open to children ages 5-12, is from March 31 through April 4. A half-day, from 8 a.m. to noon or 1 to 5 p.m., costs $8; a full day, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., is $15; and an extended day, from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., is $17. Parents can sign up their children for as many days as they choose. Full-day participants must bring bag lunches.

The entire family is invited to the Los Alamitos Spring Carnival from 3:30 to 6 p.m. April 2 in the community center’s parking lot. A $2 fee includes rides, games and prizes.

The Secret Spring Safari for children 6-12 will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 4. Cost is $18. Participants should bring a bag lunch, and wear comfortable shoes and clothing. Parents will be given an itinerary upon trip departure.
