School Trustees Mull Attendance Boundaries

Share

Magnolia School District trustees on Monday will discuss several proposals for changing school attendance boundaries to accommodate a new school.

The district is preparing to reopen Juliette Low Elementary School in Anaheim, which has been closed for about 20 years.

Supt. Paul S. Mercier said that Monday’s discussion will help district officials narrow possible boundary scenarios but that trustees will not vote on a final plan.

Mercier said he expects trustees to hold a public hearing on proposed boundary changes at their April 14 meeting.

“As soon as we can move on boundaries, we’d like to,” he said.

The district has not yet set an opening date for its ninth campus, but officials said it will reopen as a multitrack, year-round school to accommodate the district’s growing student population.

The Juliette Low school housed Rams Park, the professional football team’s former training facility, for the 20 years it was closed. The Rams are paying for its $1-million renovation as a condition of their move to St. Louis. Construction on the site began last month.

Trustees will meet at 7 p.m. Monday at 2705 W. Orange Ave., Anaheim. Information: (714) 761-5533.
