Discussion of Families
Families often are called the building blocks of society. But some people would argue that those blocks are in danger of crumbling.
Latchkey kids, emancipated minors, stepfamilies, single mothers, absentee dads. How does the traditional concept of family blend with the societal changes so abundant in the latter half of the century?
A free community forum is scheduled tonight at the La Mirada Library.
“Is Today’s Family Alive and Well?” is the question to be answered at the forum, which will be a structured discussion with a moderator. The group will be encouraged to create a plan to help families at the conclusion of the forum.
Members of community-based organizations, parent groups, church groups and individuals interested in this topic are encouraged to attend.
Time and Place: 6 to 8 p.m. La Mirada Library, 13800 La Mirada Blvd., La Mirada.
Information: (562) 943-0277.
Submissions of public service or news-related community events may be mailed to: Happening Today, Los Angeles Times, 1333 S. Mayflower Ave., Monrovia, CA 91016. Telephone submissions are not accepted.
