Magic Show to Aid Nonprofit Agencies

Share

They probably won’t be able to make that copper curtain disappear, but talented magicians from around the country will be showcasing their work at the Civic Arts Plaza on Saturday during the second annual Conejo Valley Magic Show.

A portion of the proceeds from the performances, scheduled for 2:30 and 7:30 p.m., will be donated to Community Conscience Under One Roof, an organization formed in 1981 to support Thousand Oaks-based social service agencies. There are 19 nonprofit agencies at the group’s facility, the Human Services Center at 80 E. Hillcrest Drive.

The featured performers include illusionist Dan Birch, who has been featured on television programs such as “Columbo” and “Quantum Leap”; Scott Cervine, nominated by the Academy of Magical Arts as the stage magician of the year; and Shirley Lorraine, a platform and stage magician twice honored by the Pacific Coast Assn. of Magicians.

The magic show will also include a performance from Andrew Goldenhersh, who juggles and plays piano and guitar as part of his comic magic act. Goldenhersh has been an opening act for the Flying Karamazov Brothers.

Hosting the show again is Christopher J. DePalma, a Conejo Valley resident who performs at Disneyland.

Tickets range from $10 to $16.50. They are available through the Civic Arts Plaza’s box office and through Ticketmaster. For further information call 494-3543.
