Tips for Daffodils, Other Bulbs

Once the bloom is off the daffodils and other spring bulbs, temptation is strong to cut back the drooping tops. But as is often pointed out, this keeps the bulb underground from ripening properly and robs you of bloom the following year.

It’s too late to plant a cover crop to hide the drying bulbs, but you can--if you are careful--dig them up and replant them in trenches out of sight so the ripening process can continue.
