FedEx in Talks to Buy El Segundo Site

Share

Federal Express Corp. is considering building a parcel distribution center on a 45-acre site in El Segundo that could create about 400 jobs, according to James Hansen, El Segundo economic development director. Federal Express plans to have the distribution facility near Los Angeles International Airport completed by early next year, Hansen said. A spokesman for Memphis-based Federal Express said the overnight delivery company had no comment. However, Terry Francisco, spokesman for Seal Beach-based Rockwell International Corp., which owns the site, said it was in discussions to sell the property to Federal Express but that “there is no firm agreement in place.” The site has been vacant for several years and was once the location of a military aircraft parts plant.
