Wolf in Complete Control as Waves Win 6th Straight

Randy Wolf of Pepperdine pitched his third consecutive complete game, scattering eight hits while striking out seven and walking none in a 6-2 victory over San Francisco in a West Coast Conference baseball game Thursday in Malibu.

It was the sixth consecutive victory for the Waves (17-15, 5-0) and their 11th straight at home.

Wolf (5-2), a junior left-hander from El Camino Real High, has pitched 12 complete games in his college career, four this season.

The Waves scored four runs in the fourth inning to hand Sean Buller (3-1) his first loss. Matt Purkis hit a solo home run in the sixth for the Dons (14-16, 2-3).

In other baseball games:

Canyons 17, Fresno City 7--Kasey Canale hit a sixth-inning grand slam to rally the Cougars (21-7) from a 7-5 deficit in a first-round game of the Hancock tournament.

Canale finished with two hits and five runs batted in, and Danny Bir had four RBIs.

Pierce 5-5, Rio Hondo 4-4--Tony Montiel drove in two runs and Jim Uline had two hits and one RBI for the Brahmas (18-10) in the second game of a nonconference doubleheader at Pierce.

In the first game, Ray Corrales doubled in John Ransom with the winning run in the eighth inning. Josh Morgan had two hits and two RBIs and Seth Barkley hit a two-run home run for Pierce.

MEN’S VOLLEYBALL

CS Northridge d. Wisconsin-Milwaukee, 15-10, 15-9, 11-15, 15-5--Chad Strickland led all hitters with 27 kills and Dan Fisher had 64 assists for the Matadors (12-10) in a nonconference match at Matador Gym.
