This Shoe Result Seems Like Bad Fit

Bill Shoemaker drives drunk, has an accident, and collects millions from Ford Motor Co. Am I missing something here? I recently bought a new Ford. How much of my money went to Shoemaker? If I drive drunk in my Ford and have an accident, can I get a deal like his?
