The Utah Jazz will be sorry to turn the calendar to April 1, and that’s no joke.

Utah beat the Spurs on Saturday night, 115-102, at San Antonio for its ninth consecutive victory to finish March at 14-1.

Karl Malone scored a game-high 33 points for the Jazz.

Dominique Wilkins, who led the Spurs with 26 points, moved into seventh place on the NBA’s career scoring list with a free throw in the first quarter. He surpassed John Havlicek’s 26,395 points.

Houston 120, Denver 105--Hakeem Olajuwon scored 45 points at Houston, including 16 at the free-throw line in 17 tries. He capped his night in the closing seconds with a three-point basket, only his fifth of the season.

Atlanta 88, Sacramento 74--Christian Laettner had 24 points and 10 rebounds at Atlanta, where the Hawks won their seventh in a row.

Mookie Blaylock had 16 points, a season-high 12 rebounds, six assists and five steals for the Hawks. Dikembe Mutombo added 16 points and 15 rebounds, while Steve Smith had 23 points and seven assists.

The Kings have lost eight consecutive games on the road.

Chicago 111 New Jersey 101--Scottie Pippen scored 31 points and Michael Jordan had 21 at Chicago, where the Bulls blew a 17-point lead before hanging on for their seventh consecutive victory.

Jim Jackson scored a season-high 33 points to lead the Nets. Sam Cassell added 29 but had only six in the second half.

Washington 94, Dallas 87--Rod Strickland had 21 points and 13 assists to lead the Bullets in their last game at Baltimore Arena.

Chris Webber had 17 points and 18 rebounds as the Bullets won their fourth in a row.

Since moving to Landover, Md. in 1973, the Bullets have played as many as four home games a season at Baltimore Arena. But with the state-of-the-art MCI Center slated to open in downtown Washington next season, team officials have decided not to hold any future home games at outside venues.
