University to Feature Latino Artists, Music

In celebration of Cal Lutheran University’s Festival de Encuentros, the works of six Latino artists will be on exhibit at the school from Tuesday through April 17.

The works by Latino artists from throughout Southern California will be displayed in the foyer of the university’s Preus-Brandt Forum, 60 W. Olsen Road, in Thousand Oaks.

The Galleria Don Pedro in Oxnard has loaned pieces by Victor Romero, Michael Irrizary Pagan and Yolanda Romero for the exhibit. Works by Los Angeles-area artists Ernesto Montano, Sergio Zenteno and J. Michael Walker also will be displayed.

Other festival activities will include a 7:30 p.m. mariachi extravaganza on April 8 at the Preus-Brandt Forum. On April 9, a special worship service featuring harpist Xavier Montes will be held at 10:10 a.m. in the university’s Samuelson Chapel.

Motivational speaker William “Blinky” Rodriguez will speak April 11 at 10 a.m. in the Preus-Brandt Forum.
