Bunches of Savings

SPECIAL TO THE TIMES

If you made a run to the Los Angeles Flower Mart for your Easter bouquet, this column is for you. No more treks downtown for wholesale flowers. Just head for Allen’s and get the same first-quality fresh flowers at wholesale prices.

No arrangements, no filler and no deliveries . . . just a bunch of whatever your heart desires for half the price. Sometimes you may have to buy in volume to get a deal, but it may be worth it to you.

For instance, Casablanca lilies were going for $10 each just before Easter at many florists, but if you bought 10 stems at Allen’s, the bill came to $45. Do the math and you have 10 Casablancas and saved $55.

Sweetheart roses are a great deal but you’ll have to clean them up. In other words, remove some of the leaves from the stems yourself. Could you handle that little chore to get 25 roses for $4?

Allen’s has a straight-on retail shop with all the trimmings that hike the prices, and the shop sells to other florists as well. But if you drop by the store, you can pick up a spring bouquet for $2.90, five stems of alstromeria for $2.99, 25 carnations for $3.75, or any other in-season fresh flowers for wholesale.
