Opening of El Nido Center Celebrated

El Nido Family Centers, a nonprofit social service agency that provides counseling and other services to children and parents affected by abuse, teenage pregnancy and juvenile delinquency, will celebrate the opening of its new location today, officials said.

The new center at 10200 Sepulveda Blvd. will replace another center in Van Nuys that was recently closed, said Vicki Carnes, program director in Mission Hills. The new office, one of six El Nido locations in the Los Angeles area, actually opened its doors in February, she said.

“We are excited to be at this new location. It will certainly help us to expand our services to the West Valley area while continuing to serve those who are familiar with our Van Nuys office,” Carnes said.

Although El Nido provides a wide range of services, it is known especially for its work with young parents and pregnant teenagers, to whom it provides group and individual counseling, education and referrals to other agencies.
