Paperless Lure

Re “A House of Paper,” editorial, March 28: Don’t think that a computer for every member of the California Legislature will be a panacea. Three years ago I worked for a large stock brokerage firm that spent over a billion dollars purchasing a rival brokerage firm, with one of the important allures being the acquisition of the firm’s elaborate computer system. What was touted as a paperless system resulted in the nearly doubling of the paper we were required to maintain in bloated file rooms and massive storage facilities across town. Paperless indeed!
