Alex Trotman, Ford Motor Co. chairman and chief executive, saw his compensation rise about 1.9% to $6.35 million in 1996. The figure includes a salary of $1.91 million, up from the $1.5 million Trotman received in 1995, the auto maker said in a proxy statement filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission. However, Trotman’s cash bonus slipped to $2.5 million in 1996 from $3 million in 1995. Separately, Ford announced that the Justice Department has asked for more information regarding the planned sale of its heavy-duty truck business to Daimler-Benz AG’s Freightliner unit. Terms of the transaction haven’t been disclosed.
