Aid for Orphanage Sought in Saddleback

Share

Saddleback Community College District’s Faculty Assn. is seeking clothing, cleaning supplies and personal hygiene items for La Puerta de Fe orphanage in Rosarito, Mexico.

Bedding and towels also are needed, and cash donations are welcome. Money will be used to buy cheese, fruit, vegetables and meat.

Faculty members will deliver the donated and purchased items to the orphanage.

“We are looking for individuals to underwrite the purchase of powdered milk at bulk prices,” said Robert Kopfstein, a liberal- arts professor who coordinates the biannual trips to the orphanage. “For children, a glass of milk a day is a luxury. We also need to purchase baby formula for infants.”

The orphanage is home to 75 children who range in age from newborn to 17. The children have been placed at La Puerta de Fe because they were abandoned, abused or from families with financial hardships.
