From Times Wire Reports

Men armed with knives and sabers slit the throats of 15 people in a highland village, part of one of the bloodiest killing rampages in a five-year Islamic insurgency. The slayings occurred in a farming village about 140 miles southwest of the capital, Algiers, hospital workers said. Two men also were killed next to a cemetery near Saida, a community about 200 miles southwest of Algiers, the hospital workers said. Since Friday, nearly 100 people in villages and towns outside Algiers have been killed in massacres blamed on Islamic militants.
