Albert A. Campagnoni; English Teacher
Albert A. Campagnoni of Camarillo, a retired teacher, died Tuesday in a Woodland Hills hospital from complications of pneumonia. He was 66.
Campagnoni was born Feb. 2, 1931, in Medford, Mass., and graduated from Boston University. He majored in economics and English, and earned a master’s degree from De Paul University in Chicago.
Most recently, he taught adult education in the Conejo Valley Unified School District. Earlier in his career, Campagnoni taught English at the high school and college levels.
Family members recall Campagnoni’s love of chess--even if his opponent was a computer--and he often competed with his son, Roger. Other interests included business, politics and the philosophical aspects of religion. He was a lector at St. Mary Magdalen Church in Camarillo.
In addition to his son, Campagnoni is survived by his wife, Blanche; three grandchildren; brothers Richard and Fred; and sisters Lorraine and Janet.
A vigil service will be held Sunday at 7:30 p.m. at Pierce Brothers Griffin Chapel in Camarillo. A Mass of Resurrection will be said Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Magdalen Church.
Interment will follow at Conejo Mountain Memorial Park in Camarillo.
Arrangements are under the direction of Pierce Brothers Griffin Mortuary, Camarillo.
