Three Deer Found Near White House
Three deer shocked commuters and White House guards, wandering city streets during morning rush-hour traffic before being corralled near the Executive Mansion, authorities said. Two of the deer were killed with injections because they had been injured, U.S. Park Police and Washington Humane Society officials said. The third was trapped a block from the White House and taken to an animal shelter in Gaithersburg, Md. That deer was expected to be released into the wild, a Humane Society spokeswoman said. U.S. Park Police said the deer may have come from nearby Rock Creek Park in search of food.
