State Senator to Hold Open House

As part of an ongoing effort to be more accessible to constituents, state Sen. Adam Schiff (D-Burbank) will hold office hours Friday at the Sunland-Tujunga Chamber of Commerce.

“It’s something we’ve been doing each Friday since I was sworn in in December,” Schiff said. “A lot of people can’t come to the district office in Pasadena so we are bringing the district office to them. We’re taking our show on the road.”

The Valley’s newest state senator, Schiff defeated former Assemblywoman Paula Boland in the November election.

Schiff, who made reforming the juvenile justice system a centerpiece of his campaign, said public safety issues have been among the most frequent topics of the informal sessions.

“But people are welcome to discuss whatever concerns they have, whatever issues are on their mind,” he said.

Friday’s open house will be the first for Schiff in Sunland-Tujunga, he said.

Those interested in meeting with him may call his district office to make an appointment or simply drop by, he said. Those without appointments will be seen on a first-come, first-served basis.

Schiff will be at the chamber, 7314 Foothill Blvd. in Tujunga from 9 a.m. to noon Friday.

For more information, call Schiff’s district office at (818) 683-0282.
